A Night of Elegance and Culture: The 2025 Queen’s Court Ball

On Saturday, May 10, the Lviv Pavilion was transformed into a grand setting for one of Oshawa Fiesta Week’s most prestigious traditions—the Queen’s Court Ball. Hosted by the Oshawa Folk Arts Council, this formal gala marked the official launch of Fiesta Week 2025, bringing together proud families, community leaders, and civic dignitaries for an evening celebrating heritage, youth leadership, and multicultural unity.
Introducing the 2025 Queen’s Court
The crowning of Miss Fiesta is always a highlight, and this year’s contestants were a remarkable display of cultural pride and personal excellence. Each participant demonstrated grace, enthusiasm, and a strong connection to their heritage.

Victoria Kay, representing the Italian Pavilion, was crowned Miss Fiesta and was also honored as Miss Congeniality, a title chosen by her fellow contestants.

Adiia Mark, representing Club Carib
A special moment was the return of Miss Fiesta 2024, Nia Kay, who graciously crowned her successor. Her presence symbolized the enduring spirit of cultural leadership and continuity within the community.

Spotlight on Mini Miss Participants
The evening also featured the delightful Mini Miss participants—young cultural ambassadors who lit up the ballroom with their charm and energy. Though not part of the formal competition, these young girls played a central role in embodying the future of multicultural celebration in Oshawa.
Cultural Pride on Full Display
While Queen’s Court contestants wore formal attire, their escorts proudly donned traditional cultural garments, adding rich visual symbolism and honoring the communities represented. This blend of modern elegance and cultural tradition set a meaningful tone for the evening.

Distinguished Guests in Attendance
The event welcomed several prominent figures whose presence reflected strong civic support for multiculturalism in Oshawa:
- Rhonda Kirkland, MP for Oshawa
- Jamil Jivani, MP for Bowmanville–Oshawa North
- Jennifer French, MPP for Oshawa
- Lorne Coe, MPP for Whitby
- Rick Kerr, Ward 4 Regional & City Councillor
- Tito-Dante Marimpietri, Ward 2 Councillor and Oshawa Folk Arts Council Board Member (representing Mayor Dan Carter)
During the evening, two official scrolls were presented to the Oshawa Folk Arts Council:
- One from Mayor Dan Carter and the City of Oshawa, recognizing the Council’s cultural contributions
- One from MP Jamil Jivani, honoring its longstanding community leadership
These recognitions affirmed the powerful role of the Folk Arts Council in shaping Oshawa’s vibrant multicultural identity.

Following the formalities, the ballroom came alive with music and dancing. Attendees of all ages filled the dance floor, celebrating the night with joy, energy, and unity—a perfect expression of what Fiesta Week stands for.
